Dear Members,
Please see below updates on club activity.
King’s Coronation Club Opening
The club will be open on Saturday 6th May between 1pm and 5pm for operating and socialising. The intention by Gordon is that this will be a bit of a fun day and intends to try for a little barbecue if the weather permits,
refreshments will be supplied. We will be alternating between ft8 and HF/VHF trying all the equipment we have in the shack, the aim is for something for everyone and a bit of learning as well.
Braehead Radio Rally Sunday 14th May
Don’t forget the Braehead Radio Rally hosted by Glasgow and Clyde RAYNET returns to Braehead Arena on Sunday 14th May. Doors open from 10am, £4 entry and free parking. With a Bring & Buy organised by WOSARS and the traders tables all fully booked it looks to be a great day out. Refreshments and breakfast rolls available from the onsite cafe. Talk-in via VHF 145.550 FM.
Shack Renovation Update
For those who have not made it to the club recently, the shack renovation has progressed at pace and is now up and operating with the final pieces to be completed in the next few weeks. We now have two dedicated HF stations, one connected to the main beam and the other a new vertical antenna. The VHF/UHF station is also running with the additional dedicated satellite station just awaiting the installation of the new rotating VHF/UHF antenna array that has been built during club nights over the past month. This is a massive step forward for the club, thanks to all those that have supported the work. If you have any other suggestions for further improvements then please let the committee know.
Club Opening Times
Club nights remain on Thursday between 7.30 and 9pm. Gordon has also kindly volunteered to open the club on weekends, generally Sunday afternoons for those that want to come and operate. This is currently on an ad-hoc basis so please speak to Gordon on a Thursday night if you are interested. The committee are looking to formalise opening outside of club nights to ensure members can get maximum benefit of our fantastic facilities and will keep you updated.
Summer Field Days
The committee are looking to organise more field days this summer building on the success of those last year. If you have any suggestions or ideas then please let us know. The committee is meeting next week to confirm the dates and locations which will then be advertised to members.
Kind regards,

Dear Members,
Please see below updates on club activity.
Club Nights Move Back To Thursday
Following feedback from members, agreement with the dancers and committee discussions, the club intends to move back to Thursdays for the weekly club night from this week onwards (3rd November). The dancers have agreed to turn down the music form 7.30pm to ensure that the club can operate in a pleasant manner.
Club Receives National Lottery Grant
Following the hard work led by Stephen MM7KEL, the club has been successful in receiving a grant from the National Lottery for £8000. This is our second successful grant this year having earlier received £1000 from Arnold Clark. This money is being used to support the refurbishment of the club room as well as purchasing new equipment to ensure that we have a great facility that will allow members to operate on many modes and frequencies, including enabling three separate operators to work concurrently. The new equipment is now being purchased and will be installed over the coming months.
Annual General Meeting
The AGM will be held on Thursday 1st December at 8pm in the John Connelly Centre, 30 Main Street, Renton, G82 4LY. Any submissions for inclusion in the agenda or nominations for election onto the committee should be forwarded to the secretary Simon MM0XME using mm0xme@outlook.com.
Winter Talks Ideas
Following the excellent talk on satellite operation by Craig 2M0JUM last month, the committee would like to organise further talks for the interest of members. If you have a topic that you would be willing to give a short talk on then please let the committee know. While radio related is obviously preferred, if members have other topics that may be of interest then let us know.
Kind regards,

January 2022
Dear Members,
Welcome to the January update for members of the Lomond Radio Club.
Thursday Club Nights To Return 3rd February. With the Government COVID restrictions starting to lift from Monday, the committee have decided to resume in-person club nights from Thursday 3rd January at the John Connelly Centre from 7:30pm.
All members are requested to conduct a Lateral Flow Test prior to attending to help keep everyone safe and minimise the chance of infection. There will be hand sanitiser and masks available for use however masks will be optional. With the shack still out of use we will use the stage area and RAYNET room and encourage social distancing where possible.
Club Net Thursday 20th January. In lieu of an in-person meetup, the next club net will be held on Thursday 20th January using MB7IBH-L starting at 8pm. The link can be accessed locally via RF on 145.3375 FM (Tone 103.5) or via Echolink.
Membership Subscriptions.
The new club bank account is taking slightly longer to setup than initially thought so we have delayed sending out renewal/application forms until this is ready. Once the account is sorted we will send forms to all members which will include the BACS details to pay your subscriptions directly to the account.
More information will be sent out soon (hopefully latest by the first week in February).
Radio Shack Working Party.
The shack remains out of use while we deal with the damp ingress and start the renovation plans. There will be a working party to clear out the final fixed furniture before we give the room a fresh lick of paint and start the rebuild of a brighter and better shack. The working party will be held on the weekend of 29-30 January and all members are encouraged to help out if able. If you can attend, please let Gordon know by contacting him on
g.wilson@btinternet.com.
New Club Website Goes Live.
The club has a new website built by Stephen MM7KEL which can be found at lomondradio.club
This will continue to be expanded with a news section, club information, some photos to show what we get up to and will also host the club WebSDR receiver.
Check it out now and if you have any feedback or ideas then please let Stephen know.
Mugdock Country Park Field Day.
The first club field day of the year is looking to be held at Mugdock Country Park on the outskirts of Glasgow on the 7th or 8th May. Utilising the old Anti-Aircraft Battery site close to the Khyber Car Park, the event will be a great opportunity to meet up for some outdoor radio fun. Whether you want to try your hand at QRP, satellite, activate your first Parks on the Air or just socialise this should be a great event. More information will be provided closer to the event.
